| Some time in the 1920s, Lady Ormsby, owner of the Savoy Hotel in Mussoorie, was allegedly murdered by cyanide poisoning. Perhaps it was the fact that her murderer was never discovered that inspired Agatha Christie to write her first novel,"The Mysterious Affair at Styles", which introduced the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who would subsequently appear in more than 40 of her detective novels. |
